Old Mill Little Rock Ar Gone With The Wind

March 28, 2018. Author Liz Harrell. The Old Mill is one of Arkansas’ most well-known symbols, a beautiful landmark in the deep south. She’s been featured in magazines, newspapers, and the opening credits of Gone with the Wind. But for most Arkansans, and especially North Little Rock residents, the Old Mill is an incredibly personal destination.

The park was built in 1933 by Justin Matthews and named in honor of Thomas R. Pugh, of Portland, Arkansas, who was a close friend and benefactor of Matthews. The architect for the park and the mill was Frank Carmean with artist Dionicio Rodriguez serving as sculptor of the concrete work to simulate wooden, iron, and steel structures. [2]

The Old Mill is located in the T.R. Pugh Memorial Park, at the corner of Fairway Avenue and Lakeshore Drive in North Little Rock ( map ). Hours of Operation: 8:00 am until sunset (NO pets allowed)
